About SubKey
Subleasing built for Terps, by Terps.
SubKey is a subleasing and roommate-matching platform made exclusively for University of Maryland students. We started it because finding — or filling — a sublease at UMD meant scattered group chats, sketchy strangers, and zero accountability. We wanted something built for students, verified end to end.
Meet the founders
We're four UMD students who got tired of the subleasing scramble — the sketchy group chats, the last-minute no-shows, the trust gap — so we built the platform to fix this.

What SubKey is — and isn't
What we are
A discovery, matching, and coordination tool for student subleases. We help you find the right place and the right people, handle messaging, and make payments and signing simple and secure.
What we're not
We're not a landlord, broker, or party to your lease. Any agreement made through SubKey is between the students involved, and a binding sublease still goes through your building or landlord's official process. We facilitate — we don't rent.

Secure payments
Rent and deposits are processed through Stripe. We never store your card details.
